The Otto Link Tone Edge needs no introduction. Nearly every player will own one in his or her saxophone career. Many players pay large sums for the famous Slant Signature or Early Babbitt models. Many mouthpiece makers and technicians claim to have replicated the sound and response these models offer. Despite past and recent offerings far too often players have been disappointed.
The Phil-Tone Custom Tone Edge begins as a stock Link. The chamber has been altered to reduce stuffiness and to blow more freely. The table has been flattened and a facing carefully applied. The rails are somewhat thinner and the window is larger. This results in a mouthpiece that has a classic sound, impressive depth, strong highs, and excellent response throughout the range of the horn. A slight rollover baffle is added to the tip to give a bit of extra edge when the mouthpiece is pushed. While this mouthpiece may not be a Slant Signature it may make you rethink your need for one.

Phil-Tone Custom Meyer
The Meyer and Meyer Brothers Alto pieces have been the mainstay of Alto Players for over half a century. For years these were carefully hand faced. Unfortunately, current production models lack the precision and attention given to early examples. The Phil-Tone Meyer is a corrected and customized version of the current Babbitt Meyer. The table is flattened, the chamber is slightly enlarged, and a proper facing is applied using the specifications employed in vintage models. The result is a more responsive mouthpiece with a rich tonal palette. Expect deeper lows, a stronger midrange, and highs that project with clarity and depth.
